The Best Bottle to Keep Your Drinks Cold and Fizzy
The best bottle to keep your drinks cold and fizzy is a vacuum-insulated stainless steel water bottle. That’s because the loss of carbonation increases as temperature rises. So to keep as much fizz as possible, you want to keep your beverage as cold as possible.
Many different brands make great vacuum-insulated stainless steel bottles, and we will get to them in a moment. But first, we want to mention one important thing to be mindful of when choosing such a bottle. The amount of fizz that stays in your beverage is also determined by the amount of air in the bottle. The more “free space” you leave in the bottle (and the more often you open the bottle), the faster you lose the carbonation. Surely you have experienced that you are more likely to end up with a bit of flat Coke in a large bottle than when you buy a small one. Hence choosing the right bottle size is essential. For maximum fizz, buy the smallest size that will be sufficient for you.
With that in mind, let’s look at the best bottles to keep your beverage cold and fizzy. We’ve put them in three categories so that everyone can find something they like. All of the bottles are made of 18/8 stainless steel and are BPA-free.
BEST VALUE FOR MONEY
Best Rugged Water Bottle for Carbonated Drinks
If you are looking for a water bottle that will keep your drink cold and fizzy but is also rugged so that it won’t dent easily, go with the Coleman stainless steel water bottle (Amazon link). Its double-wall, vacuum-sealed design will keep your drink cold for up to 31 hours. Another thing that makes this bottle stand out is its lid. You can easily open it with one hand. It has a protective seal against spills, which opens with a press of a button and can be locked to prevent any accidental opening. It also has a cover to protect the mouthpiece from dirt and a practical rubber base to keep it from slipping. On the other hand, because of its rugged design, the 24oz bottle weighs 1.08 lb (490g) and the 40oz 1.37 lb (621g), which puts it among the heavier ones. Still, with the price of around $20 for the 24oz or $30 for the 40oz bottle, in our opinion, it is the best value for the money.
TIP: If you want to get the most out of your insulated bottle, we recommend putting it in the freezer for about 15 minutes before filling it up. It will stay cold for longer.
Best Everyday Water Bottle for Carbonated Drinks
There are many brands that make great vacuum-insulated stainless steel bottles, the most popular one being the Hydro Flask (Amazon link). They make quality bottles that will keep your drink cold, saving carbonation for longer. However, they are a bit pricey and keep your beverage cold for around 24 hours which is not as long as other (even less expensive) brands. Because of that, we have selected three bottles from other brands that we think are the best for carbonated drinks. They are more budget-friendly but don’t be fooled. Cheaper doesn’t necessarily mean worse performance. Two of these bottles have been tested with Hydro Flask and performed better.
1. KLEAN KANTEEN – this brand wins when it comes to its long-lasting performance in keeping your drinks cold. Klean Kanteen bottles come in various sizes, which differ in how long they can keep beverages cold. For example, this 20oz bottle (Amazon link) promises to keep drinks iced for 50 hours (the newer models (Amazon link) for up to 63 hours)! This bottle has been tested next to a Hydro Flask and outperformed it in keeping the drink cooler over 24 hours. Since keeping a carbonated beverage cold is key to having as much fizz as possible, this bottle is a great option. As a bonus, some models are dishwasher safe, e.g., this 20oz bottle with loop (Amazon link).
2. THE COLDEST WATER – this bottle also outperformed the famous Hydro Flask. It promises to keep your beverage cold for at least 36 hours. You can choose from multiple sizes, 21oz, 32oz, and 64oz. The bottle comes with a loop lid and a practical rubber grip. Here is an Amazon link.
3. MIRA – even though MIRA offers various shapes and sizes of great vacuum-insulated bottles, we would like to point out their cola-shaped model (Amazon link). It comes in 12oz, 17oz, and 25oz sizes and should keep your beverage cold for 24 hours, the same as the Hydro Flask, but for a fraction of the price. Also, it comes in many colors and prints. It is the most budget-friendly option on our list but still has excellent reviews on Amazon.
TIP: We don’t recommend using a straw lid for carbonated beverages since the built-up carbonation might give you an unwanted shower when opening the lid. It might not be the case with every straw cap; however, for some straw lids, it is explicitly stated that they are not intended for use with carbonated beverages (e.g., the Hydro Flask Flex Straw Cap).
